ROMANIA Government Scholarship 2025/2026 (Fully Funded)

The Romania Government Scholarship, funded by the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, offers international students a fully funded opportunity to pursue bachelor’s, master’s, or PhD degrees at top Romanian universities while experiencing the rich heritage of Central and Eastern Europe.

The Romania Government Scholarship program aims to strengthen global educational ties by welcoming non-EU students to study in Romania. Hosted by prestigious institutions like the University of Bucharest, Babeș-Bolyai University, and the Politehnica University of Timișoara, this scholarship supports studies across diverse fields, including:

Scholarship Benefits

  • Full tuition waiver: Covers all academic fees for the program duration.
  • Monthly stipend:
    • Undergraduate: ~65–85 EUR/month
    • Master’s: ~85–100 EUR/month
    • PhD: ~100–150 EUR/month
  • Accommodation: Free university dormitory or financial support for housing.
  • Health insurance: Coverage for medical emergencies.
  • Romanian language course: Free 1-year preparatory course (mandatory for non-Romanian speakers).

 

 

Eligibility Criteria

  • Open to non-EU citizens (exceptions for citizens of Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, etc.).
  • Academic requirements:
    • Undergraduate: High school diploma with strong grades.
    • Master’s/PhD: Relevant prior degree (minimum GPA may apply).
  • Age limits:
    • Undergraduate: Under 35 years.
    • Master’s: Under 40 years.
    • PhD: Under 45 years.
  • Language proficiency: Programs are taught in Romanian (language course provided), but some English/French options exist.

 

How to Apply

  1. Choose a program: Browse courses on the Study in Romania portal.
  2. Prepare documents:
    • Academic transcripts and diplomas.
    • CV, motivation letter, and recommendation letters.
    • Passport copy and birth certificate.
    • Medical certificate (proof of good health).
  3. Submit online: Apply via the Romanian Scholarship Platform.
  4. Deadline: Typically March–April 2024 (confirm exact dates on the portal).

 

 

Deadline

  • Applications for the 2025 intake open in late 2024 and close in mid-March 2025.

 

Selection Process

  • Applications are reviewed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Education.
